Digipaks

Digipaks are a type of packaging for CD's and DVD's, typically made from cardboard with an internal section of plastic to hold the disk. They are typically Gatefolds, which is a book style, with  a paperboard or card stock outer binding.
Digipaks are known as the first alternative jewel cases for major record companies as it began in 2000. Digipak styles are often used for Cd singles or special editions of the album. with the digipak being most commonly cardboard, it is suggested that they protect it with a UV coating to insure the reduce risk of it getting damaged. The CD itself is normally packaged with 'teeth' of the hub to secure the disk.
Digipaks come in many styles, but most popular are a standard 4 side one or having a pocket inside to put in a booklet on the CD/ track.
