Magazine lessons

Today in class, we focused on the second part of our ancillary task which is creating a magazine advert for our album. Again we could do this individually or in a group. My group and i suggested we all work on our own as we all had our own original styles for the digipak that we would just develop on those ideas.

We looked at examples of magazine posters and discussed the generic conventions that are included :

-Music Review
-A Track / Hit song
-Website/Twitter/Q Code
-Release Date
-Clear Link between album and music video
-Generic conventions
-Shops its sold at
-Downloadable areas
-Font styles links to genre
-Similar colour palette
-Tour Dates
-Platforms available
-Record Company
-Extra Footage
-Slogan

The main idea of a magazine advert is to
-Promote the artist
-To sell the albun
-To be eye catching

As our artist is in the indie genre, i began thinking of magazines that would advertise our album and looked a similar adverts to get ideas.
